There is a lot of information here. It might be helpful to access this later in the year. We are working to establish effective school and home routines. This is the time to set a good foundation and expectations for what your student needs to do to be more successful with school.
Please check you student's home folder each night. Please check your student's backpack each day and send all materials back to school each day. Research shows that reading each day is critical for reading development and growth. Your student is expected to read each night for 10 plus mins. There will be a reading log sheet to record reading. Home Practice Policy "The Vista Unified School District School Board believes that well-designed alternative homework assignments provide positive parent-child relationships around school and learning, connects home culture to school experiences and builds students’ self-efficacy, collaborative and problem-solving skills" (VUSD Board Policy Number 6154). In our district, home practice does not receive a grade and students are not rewarded or penalized for their work. Please contact me if you have any questions, concerns or comments. Reading is a complicated process. The task is build on these components.
